Short and Sweet Film Reviews
FILM REVIEW FRIDAY
Thought you might like a more economical film review for this week? Enjoy!
THE IRON LADY
SEE IT if you’d enjoy watching Meryl Streep with a ton of age makeup and bad teeth. Don’t see it if old people with dementia scare you or if Jim Broadbent dancing around with a pink turban would disturb you.
THE ADVENTURES OF TIN TIN
SEE IT if you enjoy ginger boys with smart dogs. DON’T SEE IT if the strange quality of cartoon combined with real life confuses your sensibilities.
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
SEE IT if you like rape, torture and the Swedish countryside. DON’T SEE IT if you like your thrillers to provide enough clues to make sense.
EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE
SEE IT if you like to contemplate Tom Hanks’ face morphing into Mr. Magoo, or if Sandra Bullock’s masculine features and mediocre acting fascinate you. DON’T SEE IT if watching a precocious, tambourine playing boy gives you a rash.
So concludes this week’s film review…..
lolzzz perfect descriptions for every film.
I already replied to your comment! What’s going on with this stupid wordpress!
I am reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo now actually. It’s good but the daft names mean I get people confused and stuff.
Tintin is my childhood hero. I don’t want to be scared by him.
This is exactly how my husband feels. He’s a purist about Tin Tin. He didn’t want to see it but I dragged him to it. He thought it was okay.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is good (very disturbing in parts) but, as someone who didn’t read the book, I found the two story lines hard to follow. It was sort of clunky.
Oh “A Gripping Life” you are spot on with every one of your reviews. I’ve never been a fan of Sandra Bullock. I read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but won’t see the movie…’nuf said
Tin Tin is Belgian. I don’t think I’ll see the movie but it’s my duty to recommend him.
You have the best movie reviews ever :). Very efficient!
Haha! Thanks! I thought so, too.
Hey, when I changed my Avatar to the black pumps I thought of you. I seriously wore shoes just like this all through out high school and college. My ‘go to’ shoe.
I can’t seem to land on something that suits me. I love your one single expressive eye. It’s the best!
When black pumps make one think of me, I know I’ve made it in life.
Try your mouth, perhaps. Or your ear. Or a finger with a ring you always wear. So many possibilities! Just try them out and see when you feel like this it ít. You’ll find something… Just not an eye ;).
I’m not a fan of Sandy, either. Everyone thinks she’s ‘the girl next door’ but let me tell you, SHE IS NOT. Enough said.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has some rough scenes that I had to bury my head in my lap for. I had started the book, and got as far as page 15 before the movie came out so I just figured, what the heck? It made for a very spiritual week leading up to Christmas. It really put me in the Christmas mood. Lol!
Did you actually see all of these movies? If yes, I am impressed. I’ve gone to the movies once in the last year. It was an independent film without a real ending. Hipsters….ugh.
Very good observation on Tom Hanks. His eyelids seem to be quick sand and his pupils are a lost child in the jungle. They’re slowly sinking away.
Be impressed, be very impressed. Only kidding. I saw three of the four. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close got ravaged by the critics so I decided to stay away from that one. That little boy’s voice is very grating, to say the least. Even the preview is hard to get through.
I’m not gonna lie, we’re MAJOR movie goers, in this family. I think it’s the popcorn that lures us in more than anything? We’re like alcoholics but with popcorn.
One more thing…I keep forgetting to tell you that the KEY = education in the little psych test. I got so into it I forgot to proof read! I edited all the symbols on that same post in case you want to give the test to your girlfriend. : ) Just have her close her eyes the whole time.
If you can, try and see The Guard, that’s one of the best films I’ve seen from last year, the other being Warrior with Tom Hardy. I’d so be gay for him.
Dragon Tattoo: SEE IT if you like rape, torture and the Swedish countryside.
Can’t say I’m a BIG fan of any of those things haha 😀
haha! I tried to be very abbreviated which gave my review a little comic appeal! (I’m very relieved none of those things strike your fancy.)
I’ve heard good things about The Guard. I’ll definitely try to locate it. Thanks for the recommend. Hahaha! on the Tom Hardy comment! You’re not alone in that thinking, I’m sure!
