Okay, I need your help…
**Not my actual house, but one that I’d LOVE to move into!
Dear Friends,
I’m showing my house today at 2:00 to a couple that has stated they’re very interested. For those of you keeping track, and I don’t know why you would be, my house has been on the market for over a year and I’m pretty desperate to sell. I’ve spent all morning scrubbing, vacuuming, scouring, hosing, washing, sweeping, and in general terms, beautifying my home. I think I’m sweating from every miserable pore on my body. I look like I’ve been hit by a truck and then run over by one. Ugh! But if this is what it takes, so be it.
I could really use some love and support from you guys in the form of prayers, positive thoughts, meditations, groovy home buying vibes, etc. Whatever it is that you do when you need things to move in a certain direction. I’ve never asked for anything like this before, but I do believe our words, thoughts and wishes can be powerful so why not tap into my little community of friends on the internet.
Thanks everyone! I’ll let you know how it goes.
Wouldn’t it be cool if they put in an offer?
If they don’t like my house, though, I’m gonna know who’s responsible and give all of you hell. (Just kidding!)
Lisa, I’m sending you all that — prayers, positive thoughts and groovy home buying vibes. Good luck! I know how stressful this can be. GOOD WONDERFUL HOME VIBES TO YOU NOW……xxoo
Thanks so much, Brigitte! I know your vibes are quality! haha!
Positive thoughts, I know it will be good
Thanks, John. I appreciate that.
Positive thoughts and prayers coming your way 🙂 That is a beautiful house BTW!
Thanks, Karen! If only that were my real house — I wish! Maybe you can pray for that to fall into my lap, too, I mean, while you’re at it. haha!
Oh haha, well I’ll keep my fingers crossed for that to happen 😀
Thanks! I’ll keep mine crossed for you to… you know, just for whatever you’re needing : )
haha!
Grippy,
This is Eric showing up… I’m sending you my strongest French Canadian good vibes. Keep us posted.
Eric
Thanks so much, Eric. I’m really desperate and could use my French Canadian friend’s assistance in the form of very strong and good vibes.
Don’t worry, Lisa, I’m sure they’ll love your delightful house.
Thanks Michael for the good thoughts from across the pond!
Good vibes coming. I may have some house selling karma left over from selling my dad’s house in one day and my next door neighbor selling hers in less than a week. Sending it your way.
Ooh, now that’s what I’m talking about! Send it my way, please. I could use all the good karma I can get. (Wow, any secrets to selling so quickly?)
Dad’s house and the neighbor’s house were both in immaculate condition. (It would take about a decade to sell my house). Dad’s house was priced perfectly. There are lots of houses like his in the neighborhood and many have been sitting on the market for months. Dad’s is one of the best ’cause they did some thoughtful renovations and his was priced $35,000 lower than one that has been on the market for a year. Neighbor got one of the highest prices in the area and I”m not really sure why. She had it staged, so that helps and she is the cleanest person I know of. She actually cleans the sliding door tracks with bleach. They also had recently replaced a few big ticket items like the water heater and air conditioning. Best of luck to you!
Bleach on the door tracks! Haha! I can be a little fastidious, too – I have to be though, my house was built 1934. It’s a lot of upkeep. It’s a beautiful old Cape Cod style home, if I could pick it up and take it with me to the west coast, I would. We’ve done a lot of renovating and so I get sick at the idea of lowering the price, I feel like it’s already low and if we dropped it more it would be like giving it away.
The whole thing is unpleasant. I’m exhausted and ready to move on.
I’ll definitely put my prayers in for you. Those ‘vibes’ go a long way I believe. It’s a lovely house.
Thanks, Sandee. I appreciate that. I should have stated that the photo is my fictitious house, oops. But yeah, thanks for that.
I’m sure after all that scrubbing and polishing that your house is just as lovely…
Yeah, my house looks lovely, but now I have to be scrubbed and polished! I look like a dirty rag.
Candle lit? Check
Prayers said? Check
Fingers crossed? Check
Good luck, my friend. You deserve to sell this, and be able to move on to the next phase of your life.
Thanks Addie! It really means a lot to me that you care. I can feel the love jumping off my computer screen.
: )
You got it Lisa! I will be visualizing that SOLD sign! 😀
Thanks, Linda. Visualize me dancing a jig right next to it! haha!
Hi Lisa, sending prayers your way.
Thanks, Charlene!!! xoxo
Candle lit, positive words & vibes sent.. I told the people to “MAKE AN OFFER”..
🙂
You’re awesome, Lynne!! Thanks for those positive thoughts!!!
You know I got your back. All I need is for you to come down to SW Missouri and get my apartment all nice and clean. Oh, wait. It doesn’t work that way, does it? You’re in my prayers.
Deal. If my house sells I’ll clean anything you want! Thanks for the prayers.
Lisa
Sending good vibes your way. I know exactly how you feel…..I made my $$$ in housing and then the rug got pulled out from under me….that’s a whole’nuther story and requires numerous margaritas. Fingers crossed 🙂
Ingrid, that sounds like you’ve been on a bit of a real estate roller coaster. Ugh! These are difficult times. The last house I sold 15 years ago, went in a matter of days. This time it’s not so easy.
Thanks for your well wishes. I’ll go have a virtual Margarita with you any day of the week.
sending my good vibe-O-licious thoughts your way.. as well as a huge prayer. If they don’t put in an offer .. send em my way and I’ll give ’em a smack down.
That’s wonderful, I could use me some Audra prayers and vibe-O-licious thoughts coming my way. I know where to send ’em if they don’t put in the offer!
Candle lit?
Prayers said?
Fingers crossed?
Just all my best wishes that you get it sold and can move on to a new start what ever it is you plan. Your house looks lovely except for the loose tile on the roof 🙂
Haha! That’s not my real house! Thanks for the good wishes Harry. I really would love to move on and get a fresh start.
Put your house on someone reading might buy it 🙂
I don’t know if that’s a good idea? If someone/ one of my readers, is looking to live near Chicago they hopefully would ask to see a picture of my house. I don’t know???
Fingers crossed and prayers said! i have a good feeling about this! You are so gonna sell. ;D
Thanks, Emily! I hope your positive attitude and kind words make this happen.
How did it go?
Emily, thank you so much for asking. You’re kind.
I’m not totally sure. They were here for over an hour so that’s good. They asked about utilities, so I figure that’s good as well. Maybe they were playing it close to the vest? My realtor felt good about it and yet held off saying that she thought they’d put in an offer. It was raining so that was sort of crappy… Oh well.
I’ll keep you posted, for sure.
Have a great night!
Hugs to Miss C.
Good vibes coming to you all the way from New Zealand. If they work can you send some back as I am also trying to sell our house – nothing doing in 6 months. Very frustrating and my fingers are worn to the bone trying to keep it clean and the garden weedless. Arrghh! Good Luck and good feelings.
Aww… Thanks Yvonne!! I feel your pain and I’m sending some good vibes right back at you. It’s awful, isn’t it? I just want it to end. (My Garden is a never ending project. I’m at the point where I want to pull it all out and plant Boxwood! haha!)
Hope it was all worth it and successful!
Thanks, we shall see… To be continued!
Late to the party (again), but hoping they realize the house is as spectacular as its owner, and that all went well!
Guapo, that’s such a sweet comment, you might as well have given me a bouquet of flowers! Thanks for being so kind.
The people were here for over an hour so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. Fingers crossed!
Sorry you’re stuck in that house. It’s a good one. But it’s annoying to feel trapped in a place that you don’t want to be. It must just not be the right time quite yet. Remember, God’s trains run on time! 🙂
Thanks for the good reminder, Lil! XOXO
Sorry I’m late, but I’m sending good thoughts and intentions your way.
Thanks, Weebs. It’s never too late to send those good vibes. Hope you had a nice weekend. : )
*POSITIVE HOUSE SELL VIBES*
Hopefully they work!
Thanks, NBI! I’ll keep you posted.
That is a gorgous house – who would NOT want it?
It’s actually not mine, just a photo. I know, it’s pretty gorgeous. I wasn’t sure if I should put a picture of my own home?
Why not! Maybe a blogger will buy it ~
But good luck and positive thoughts for your showing.
Any news?? An offer? A bidding war?? Don’t leave us hanging.
No : (
They were here for over an hour, so that’s a good. They asked about the utilities – maybe another good sign? I think they were either playing it close to the vest or they’re luke warm? Either way, it’s a drag sitting and waiting.
A bidding war? Can you imagine? That would be phenomenal! Keep those fingers crossed (not really, I wouldn’t do that to you.)
Lisa
I’m telling you, if you’re not willing to say it belonged to Capone or Gacy at one point at least say it was the Home Alone house.
Good plan. I’m sure that will boost the value, especially if there are any little boy remnants in the basement.
Good house juju, just for you! Did you spray some fresh-baked-cookie scent? I hear people do that.
I have this room spray I bought at Buckingham Palace. It’s unbelievably beautiful. I also play Edith Piaf in the background and put fresh cut white roses around the house. Ya see, I really try and class up the joint! haha!
SUPER classy.
I’m new here. So how was the showing?!
I think it was okay. They stayed for a long time and asked a lot of questions so I’m taking that as a good sign. I’m afraid there are a lot of people waiting for me to lower the price and if I drop it anymore, it’s going to be like giving it away. : (
All I can say is, I hope Romney gets elected and the housing market picks up soon. Ha! (It feels so good to write that!)
I think a lot of things will change after the election when Obama loses and we can go back to being a republic being run by non-socialists 🙂
Ahahahahaha! I’m hoping for a landslide, is that too much to ask?
I won’t get greedy but I will take the win. And I live in the People’s Republic of Portland (Oregon) so I had to put my Romney/Ryan sticker on ASAP!
Hopefully my car won’t get keyed.
OMG! This is too weird. You know how I’m selling my house? Guess where I’m probably moving? Portland/Lake Oswego area! Seriously? Isn’t that a fun coincidence?
I currently live in Obama’s Illinois where political corruption and criminal behavior reign supreme.
I’ve got my Romney sticker on the car – just doing my part to piss the good people of Illinois off.
shut the hell up!!! I am from Lake Oswego! and in SW Portland now. Why are you moving out here? I’m thrilled I will have a fellow republican in the area!
Isn’t this so weird? I have a list of houses that I am interested in. I’ve been to Lake Oswego once and just loved it. My daughter just got married and now lives in Victoria, British Columbia and my husband works a lot in LA so I figured that’s a great in between spot on the coast. You and I have lots in common, don’t we? Feel free to email me anytime – I may need the low down on different areas, etc.

just fyi…. magitch1@comcast.net 🙂
I thought the only thing Romney was good at was closing firms down and sacking the work force 🙂
Oh, Harry, don’t start me. Romney was called in when the companies were on the verge of bankruptcy and they needed someone to save them. Sometimes he could resuscitate them and other times they were already dead on his arrival – at that point he would re-structure them and try and get them started again. His job was one of great financial risk. When there’s a sizable risk and you’re able to turn things around, you’re rewarded financially. Don’t believe what the liberal left media tell you.
Woohoo! New political blog!
Just kidding, and hopefully we’re all friendly enough to not devolve into name calling and the usual.
If I can ask a question of a Romney fan, are you at all concerned with his plans for the tax rates, or how he’ll implement his increase of the defense budget while at the same time, lowering taxes?
And are you concerned at all that two of Ryan’s hallmarks are
1 – his unwillingness to compromise (at least in the last few cycles)?
2 – his stance on limiting access to reproductive (including abortion) services?
I did a search and cannot find any firms he put back on their feet, i love political 🙂
Start with a little company called STAPLES.
Et tu Guapo? Look, I know Mitt Romney. He fixes things, that’s what he does. He understands global economics backward and forward. If anyone can save our country from going down the debt drain, it’s him. (Obama’s never even run a lemonade stand. He has no background in business, no understanding of financial issues.) He was a community organizer, for Pete’s sake.
Who ever is at the helm next is going to have the unpleasant task of cleaning up the proverbial spending party. People won’t be happy when Romney makes huge cuts to the federal budget. But it has to be done. He also knows he needs to take the choke collars off of small businesses so that they can start hiring again and get the economy moving. He’s gonna take the bloat out of government and reduce it down to a manageable size.
As far as Ryan goes.. the only thing I don’t like about him is that he’s a bow hunter. Yuck. Other than that, he’s probably one of the smartest and sharpest guys with the purest motives in politics today. He’s no Joe Biden, I’ll give ya that! haha! He has come up with a fiscal plan that even Bill Clinton agrees with. (I have come to LOVE Bill Clinton) As far as reproductive stuff goes, I’m pro choice. People should be free to choose. My personal choice is life. Abortions should be a state decision, not something decided in Washington. And Unless you’re living in poverty, I think you can buy your own contraception. Sheesh. People want the government out of Gay marriage (it should be on the state level) but they want them to pay for their birth control? Are we in the bedroom or out of the bedroom?
Okay, I think I have to take a nap!!!
Hope we’re still buds.
…Go see 2016 for a straight forward and factual look at Obama.
Also, read the Newsweek article, “Hit The Road Barrack” Very balanced and full of facts.
Fair enough, and thanks for the answer! (though it looks like their are some contradictions in there)
As for myself, I’m not particularly happy with either of them, and I think the solutions lie somewhere in the middle, but I expect I’ll go left this time around.
I’ll look into the Newsweek article.
Of course we’re still buds. Be boring as hell if we all had the same opinion, no? 😉
Good answer!
@ El Guapo, i find anyone limiting access to reproductive (including abortion) services is wrong, it is the womans rights and she alone should decide what she does.
Not some bureaucrat sitting in an ivory office who does not know her, or a preacher who has a closed mind.
That’s my political rant over 🙂
Only kidding Lisa, just keeping the conversation going 🙂
I know, sometimes it’s fun to stir the pot. : )
Lisa, you and I are like twins but different ages and different parents, other than that just like twins. Loved the Newsweek article, I think I posted it on my Facebook when it came out, not that any of my Portland pals will read it. 🙂 I have a total Lady Boner for Paul Ryan. I have no problems with flattening the tax code to something simple like 10% and 25%. I come from a long line of small business owners and they need the government out of their offices. I think there will be a sigh of relief and the opening of bank accounts once Romney wins this election.
As of the “reproductive rights” issue…
I believe it never should have gone to the Supreme Court. It should be up to the states. I don’t think the feds should be financing Planned Parenthood and don’t tell me they are out there helping women who just can’t afford birth control. They are providing abortions and that is their primary concern. My sister just asked for assistance from them for a non-abortion issue and they said, “sorry you don’t have a job but we’re going to charge you just what a ob/gyn would.” And yes, why should the government pay for anyone’s birth control?
This election comes down to what do the voters see as the role of government? I think it should be limited and Barack Obama does not.
Maggie – I haven’t seen any legitimate source that shows Planned Parenthood’s primary concern is providing abortions.
I would love to see something that does show that. Otherwise, it gets chalked up to rhetoric that people try to make believable just by shouting it longer and louder than the other side.
(And to be fair, both sides do it, and it’s probably the least helpful thing ever.)
(Besides shoehorns, I mean.)
El Guapo, you are absolutely right I don’t cite a source so I shouldn’t say that is PP’s primary mission. It appears to me that it is because Roe v. Wad and “reproductive rights” are so often their call to action. I used the anecdote about my sister to illustrate that, they don’t seem to be all that concerned about providing affordable gyno services.
And yes both sides do it, no question.
What if I shout “I LOVE PAUL RYAN!!!”? That’s pretty convincing isn’t it? 🙂
That’s actually quite convincing. You won’t find me yelling I love Obama.
Mostly because I’m straight… 😉
I have found that the more comments people get the post moves off-topic.
It has gone from selling a house, to political and now child birth/abortions, whats next 🙂
Harry, it has gone to shoehorns! Shoehorns for pete’s sake!
El Guapo started it 🙂
Now if w could get gov’t to do something about the shoehorn epidemic…
Oh, and it’s a pleasure to meet you, Maggie.
The constitution doesn’t mention shoehorns. keep your legislation off my shoehorns!
Nice to meet you, too El G!!!
Haha! Yeah, it slowly disintegrates.
“I have this room spray I bought at Buckingham Palace.”–why do I automatically think it smells like diamonds and corgis?
(avoiding all political discussions and steering the discussion back to houses)
PS How do I vote for you on LeClown’s blog voting?
haha! If my house smelled like corgi’s I think we’d know why it wasn’t selling! That spray is unbelievable. I treat it like gold. It’s called ROYAL HYACINTH. Oh my, you’d love it.
I actually backed out of the contest for many reasons. You’re insightful, Addie, and I think you know me pretty well. Let’s just say it wasn’t feeling like a good fit for me.
I actually talked with someone who was devastated, really hurt by it. She said she felt like she was “kicked in the teeth.” I know too many great people on here to put myself in that position.
I know it was meant to be fun but there was a side to it that really wasn’t.
To be frank, I kinda wondered why you were doing it–for those very reasons. You do just fine here in the ‘hood, and, your fans are legion (I love that phrase!). Never change, as I think you’re pretty swell the way you are. No bullshit, just fact. I admire and respect you a great deal from the person I’ve come to know (and seeing the job you did with Lily) and I am sorry we are not closer in geographical areas. Anne teases me when I’ll discuss something you’ve written with a friend on the phone, and I’ll say, “My friend, Lisa….”. “Mom, you’ve never met her!” “No, but, I feel I have.”. Yeah, my kids make fun of me, too. aha!!
Hyacinth? Oh, I would swoon!! I wonder if the Queen gets a cut of the sales, aside from the VAT.
Just put up a massive poster of my face, a bidding war will soon ensue 🙂
I hope your handsome face brings me much luck! Thanks, Pete!
I think things happen when they’re meant to rather than when we want them to. I hope you sold it though…this post is about a month old I think! And what a lovely house in the photo. In my dreams…
Thanks Yaz! Unfortunately it hasn’t sold yet. UGH! Activity has picked up slightly but still no deal. My friend always says, “God’s trains run on time.” I think this is absolutely true, so I’ll continue to wait, even though I’m sick of it. Haha!
