One of my many moods…
I’m feeling a little feisty today. The following Gif illustrates my current mood. Perhaps Vickie Lester can tell me the specifics– who, what and where with regard to this image. Vickie is a walking encyclopedia of Early Hollywood History – a very warm hearted, witty, beautiful encyclopedia, that is.
I think all of my feisty friends will appreciate this. You know who you are. Well, pretty much all of my blogging friends are capable of this behavior, so enjoy!
Lisa 😉
That’s pretty good.
I have no idea who the woman, the hand, or the cup of coffee is though.
Thanks, Michael. It will remain a mystery until my more knowledgable friends step forward and deliver the answers.
I would not like to meet you on a bad day 🙂
No, I’m afraid you wouldn’t. 😉
I don’t know either but I sure do like her.
Me too. I like her calm demeanor before the storm.
Barbara Stanwyck — much later starred in the TV show Big Valley. In her day, quite the looker.
Thank you, sir. I recognized her face but the name was not coming to me. Duh. Well, all right. I like her cool in this.
The movie was Coffee for Elephants. It starred Barbara and the Elephant man. That is the Elephant man’s hand which did not reveal his elephant nature. Barbara ends up liking him when she discovers his enormous trunk. It is a real love story. HF
Yup, that must be it. Very funny, Harper.
You set them up; I’ll knock ’em down! HF
Oh Yeah!!!
Glad you like it, Honie.
Ah, Barbara, and all feisty women, I love them. I am one myself. I do not know that I should be proud of this, but after our second child was born, I had pizza delivered for dinner one night. The kids were 12 months apart, My then husband proceeded to tell me that he could not eat pizza with a baby on his lap. I plucked the infant from his lap with one hand, and poured a 2 litre bottle of diet root beer over his head with the other hand. Three children later, when he told me he could not dress and watch one of the infant twins, I proceeded to put on a pair of jeans, zipping them up, and buttoning them, while holding a baby is each arm, as he watched in amazement. This man is a surgeon, for the love of God! 😉
I can sooo see you doing that!!! Lol! That’s perfect. You’re one of my most feisty friends. 😉 Love this comment!!
I have mellowed with age, though some may disagree. 😉 Those people would be my children.
haha! Our children see more than we’d like them to. 😉
So did the neighbors. I am told that twenty plus years later, they are still chuckling. Clothing dumped on the front lawn, oh and many an antenna snapped off his Mercedes. That was the classic, “If you won’t listen to me, then you do not get to listen to NPR!” move. I am rather glad I’ve grown up…more or less!
Good times!! That same trait is a real strength when it comes to holding your ground, doing what’s right, fighting for your beliefs, etc. I’d rather be a gal with spit fire than a wimpy ineffective piece of milk toast. 😉
Yes, I am a spit fire. One of my daughters is as well. She’s a sight to behold and I love her!
So that apple didn’t fall far from the tree, eh? It serves her well, I’m sure. It does makes us a little more lovable – you can always be sure that there’s a soft sweet center.
my kind of gal
I thought you might say that! 😉
Grippy + Feisty= look out 🙂
I love this gif– so calm and collective, then bam. I don’t react that way. I am more of a raving loony.
LOL! You have that soo right — And you, Audra, are perhaps one of my feistiest friends. It takes one to know one!! Loony, no. Feisty and unexpected, yes. 😉
1933 – Barbara plays Lily in a film called “Baby Face” – her father is abusive and pimps her out to patrons of his speakeasy, a friend tells her to use her considerable beauty to gain control over her life and she moves to NY and sleeps her way up the corporate ladder… The guy who she dumps coffee on is a corrupt politician who has been groping her at the speakeasy. If I had been directing that scene she would have poured that hot coffee right in his lap.
Something in the air today… I’m in a mood too! Perhaps I’ll brew up some java 😉
I would have dumped the coffee on his head, too! I love that you can just reference this so easily. It’s great to have such knowledgeable friends. I’ll have to look for this one, I like the story line. Yes, we all seem to be in the same mood– isn’t that funny? I have a funny feeling my mood might carry over to tomorrow. 😉
It’s her cool expression, that little knowing glance. It gets me every time.
Glad you liked this gif as much as I did! Tumblr is a gold mine for stuff like this. There must be a group of people like us who appreciate cool stuff like this!
😀
Ahhh it also moves on the front page of your blog! How cool!!!
This is so great! Thanks, Lil. It was perfect for today’s post. And yeah, I like that it works on my opening page. Cool.
I need to channel her more often.
Me too. I know I need more of this because it thrills me every time she pours the coffee.
Ooohh, I like her feistiness! I love her eyes, Lisa. They say everything, don’t they? But then to add the spilled cup of coffee to the mix…ouch!
Yes!! It’s all in her eyes. She’s so cool, making it extra satisfying when she pours the coffee. Tee hee
I’m so feeling this way this week. And very tired. Hope you are well! Glanced at your post yesterday, my friend…you and I should write a screenplay together. ;).
(Be well!!)
There must be something in the air. I think several of us are feeling this way.
I would love to write a screenplay with you. It would have a killer soundtrack, that much I know. Have a good night, Brig!
I recognized Barbara Stanwyk but couldn’t have told you the film name…but used to watch those old ones …come to think of it I guess they weren’t soooo old when I watched them..lol Diane
Haha! She was great. I don’t think she looks as severe as she did in later films. In this clip she looks soft and much younger. I love the old films, but like you, I can never remember the titles.
Cool
My daughter taught me about these gifs- it is cool, isn’t it?
Hahaha. I particularly love her facial expression or lack thereof. Doesn’t even let him know it’s coming 🙂
Agree! That’s the best part.
Awesome gif. Sometimes, you’d just want to do something like that. Totally bitchy but oh so good…
It’s so satisfying, isn’t it?
lol that’s one way of expressing your emotions, no words needed here! 🙂
Hot coffee on the hand speaks volumes, right? Lol!
ooooh ya does it ever XD
That looks scary to me! But I’m all in on the coffee pour.
Of course you are, Maggie. You’re one of my feisty friends. 😉
HAHAHA! Atta girl! 😀 (Why could I actually see myself doing this? Lololol)
Hahaha! I’ve never seen this movie! I was wanting to watch an old movie today since it’s raining. Now I know what to watch! Hope I can find it somewhere!
haha! I’d like to watch it as well. It seems like something we’d both enjoy.
HAHA…that’s my mood always!
It’s perfect, isn’t it? haha!
yeah, I think we should all carry a hot water flask to quench such thirsts…:D
Dearest Gripping
I knew our V wouldn’t let you down.
A local steak oriented pub near The Dandy has an original full size movie poster of Babs in “Cattle Queen of Montana”, never seen the film but she is now linked forever to it in my mind.
That sounds like a suitably feisty part too!
Yours ever
The Perfumed Dandy
Dear Dandy,
We can always count on our V.
It sounds as though that poster has found the perfect home. “Cattle Queen of Montana” -Add it to my list of must sees.
Gripping
An excellent reminder that whenever you have unseemly gentlemen callers, make cheap coffee – in case you have to throw it at them.
Yes. That’s the lesson here without a doubt. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to entertain some unseemly gentleman callers just so that I can pour hot coffee on them. 😉
Having not read the comments (still catching up on missed posts), I’m going with the indomitable Barbara Stanwyck… loved her! It’s that sassy smirk she gets. Love this!
Yup! She looks softer in this with her hair like that. But it’s all in the eyes, that little glance kills me every time. Glad you love it, too.
Classic annoyed woman who is tired of boorish behavior while laughing deep down at the clown’s reaction to her.
I love her eyes, her little glance up at him. It’s devilish. I hope I never pour coffee on your hand– maybe if I get in a bad mood from all the trafficky roads? 😉
it was once stated by a guy I met , “where there is hate there is hope” indifference is a relationship disaster. unusual way of looking at a situation, do you agree
I sort of think he’s right. When you hate someone you still have feelings for and about them. When you’re indifferent or have apathy it’s deadly. That means nothing is there. Right? I guess….
Ranks right up there with James Cagney rubbing a grapefruit in some woman’s face in a 30s movie.
That sounds familiar… I’m sure I’ve seen it. I love James Cagney.
Love it. 🙂
